İstanbul üzerine çok yazıldı kuşkusuz. Ama bu kez bizim düşüncemiz, İstanbul'a gelmiş dünya yazarlarının metinlerinden yola çıkarak bu büyülü şehri anlatmayı onlara bırakmak. Yazarların bire bir yaşadığı ve anlattığı yerler, insanlar, olaylar birliği, ana temamız olacaktır. Örneğin Herman Melville'in İstanbul sokaklarını tasviri, Georges Simenon'un Büyükada'da Troçki'yle konuştuktan sonra Beyoğlu'nda bir lokantaya gidişi gibi...
Many things have been written on İstanbul, that is for sure. But this time,
our notion is to take off from the texts of the writers of the world who had
visited İstanbul, thus let them tell the tale of this magical city. Our main
theme will be the places where the writers precisely have lived and told,
the people, the convergence of events. For instance, Herman Melville's portrayal
of the streets of İstanbul, Georges Simenon heading to a restaurant in Beyoğlu
after speaking to Trotsky in Büyükada… |
Kameramız zaman zaman o günlerdeki sokaklardan görüntüler tarayacak, zaman zaman da bugünün sokaklarından, onların gözleriyle kentin büyüsünü yansıtmaya çalışacak. Belgeler, satır aralarından çıkarılan notlar, başka yazarların tanıklıkları, gravürler de eski İstanbul'u bize yansıtacak, sisler içinde Üsküdar'a giden bir kayıktan bize el sallayacak...
Our camera will, from time to time, browse through the streets of those days,
and sometimes will try to reflect the magic of the city via the streets of
today, through their eyes. Documents, notes from between the lines, testimonies
of other writers and engravings will reflect the old İstanbul waving to us
from a rowing boat heading to Üsküdar in the mist.
