1949 Mehmet Güreli was born in Istanbul. He graduated from the middle division of the Austria Lycee/Sankt Georg and the upper division of Hürriyet Koleji.

He studied philosophy at the Istanbul University Faculty of Literature for two years

In 1976 he joined the staff of the Newspaper Hürriyet

1984 saw the appearance of the magazzine Nisan and the founding of the Nisan Editions.

His book "Sıcak Bir Göz", a collection of short stories,appeared in 1985

In 1987 he produced an 18-min. 16 mm film entitled "Vapurlar"

In 1988 he released a music casette with the same name.

His second book of short stories, "Alope'nin Odası", appeared in 1993.

In 1995 "Cihangir'de Bir Gece" appeared as a music casette and compact disc and Vapurlar was released in the latter format.
